Corpus Christi Army Depot, TX History

Corpus Christi Army Depot was established as a tenant of NAS Corpus Christi in 1961, and is the Army's main helicopter overhaul and repair facility. CCAD got lots of practice with helicopter repair during the Vietnam War, and based a major repair activity off the USNS Corpus Christi Bay, a floating Army helicopter repair facility off the shore of what was then South Viet Nam. In Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and in the War on Terror, CCAD deployed repair and maintenance units for flight operations in every major theater.

Corpus Christi Army Depot currently occupies 154 acres of the Naval Air Station, and since 2000, has entered into four private industry partnerships with General Electric Aircraft, Boeing Company, Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, and Honeywell International.
